Agricultural Stewardship Tax Credit Informational Webinars to be Held

The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is launching a new tax credit to producers implementing agricultural stewardship and soil health practices. The tax credit benefits will begin in 2026.

This tax credit was created through HB24-1249 and encourages individuals to actively implement one or more qualified stewardship practices that increase soil health, improve water efficiency, or create more diverse and beneficial ecosystems while maintaining the productivity of the farm or ranch.

Members of the CDA will be traveling across the state this winter to engage with stakeholders and inform the upcoming rulemaking. Stakeholder input will help inform specifications about eligible stewardship practices, the application process, and the verification process for the tax credit. They are looking for your, and your agricultural community's, feedback about the tax credit.

The CDA is asking producers to please fill out their survey to make your voice heard about this new opportunity.  In addition, they will be hosting two informational webinars in January about the tax credit to answer questions and gather feedback.  The link for their survey and to register for the webinars is at the following page:  https://ag.colorado.gov/ag-stewardship-tax
